रावण रचित शिव तांडव स्तोत्र श्लोक १५

The folklores of love of Shri Mahadev for his wife Maa Sati are famous since ancient times.

Shiva lived in a crematorium and used the ashes from pyres to apply on his body. Sati was a princess with all abundances in life. She barely knew any harsh realities of life. She fell in love with Lord Shiva and did rigorous penance to please him and also to obtain permission from her father for the wedding. Her father gave her hand to Mahadev against his wishes.

Textual Description:

The ancient texts describe the wedding as Paanigrahan of Parvati by four armed Shiva. Shiva has Jata Mukut and holds a Parshu – the axe and a Trishul – a trident. Bhagawan Vishnu along with his wives Bhudevi & Lakshmi are also present and Brahma – creator of the world is the priest for the wedding.
